What The Hell Are You Doing?

17 Jul

What The Hell Are You Doing?

Forgive my bluntness, my old friend
One question on me does descend:
Just what in the blue hell are you doing?

With my query I don’t intend
To rile, jostle or offend
Or cause your fickle ego to be stewing

But it’s a question on which I
Do dwell upon, I cannot lie
So please enlighten me with your own side

Please explain and don’t be shy
The reason that you do not try
To be aware of strength you have inside?

Illustrate to my thick mind
How you can be so very blind
To your innate ability to cope

Why when you are in a bind
Does your grace begin to unwind
And you begin to stress, complain and mope?

What the blazes can explain
Your aversion to fear and pain?
What the dickens makes you shrink so small?

What’s the blockage in your brain
That stops your desire to train
And hone the power to break your own fall?

What the hell and what the shit?
Why the heck can’t you admit
The choice is yours, not theirs, on how you feel?

This one question please permit
Even if you have to admit
A truth that you would much rather conceal

Please shoot straight and don’t lay blame
Be honest, genuine, proclaim
The goal that you are hoping to achieve

Don’t be embarrassed or have shame
Be bold, courageously exclaim
Just what in the blue hell is up your sleeve

‘Cause all I see is misery
And no accountability
Wishing someone else would fix your mess

There must be something I can’t see
So please indulge my single plea:
What the hell’s the point of your distress?

Why’s your Warrior asleep?
Why do you act like a sheep?
Why don’t you reject what you’ve been taught?

Why are you afraid of “deep?”
Why is every hill so steep?
Why did you quit when you could have fought?

Why do you take two steps back
Whenever someone does attack?
Why is “forward” such a scary way?

Where’s your fire? Where’s your knack?
Why’s your will so out of whack?
And why won’t you change everything TODAY?

Forged

You may have stumbled on my site and wondered, “Who’s this man?
Who’s this painted sword wielder with eyes that glare dead-pan?”
Who’s this poet who writes things easier said than done
Like sacrifice and discipline and other things not fun?
I am one of the last Warriors upon this Earth
Forged in fires of great pain and loss which scorched my mirth
The fires cauterized my ego, sealing its wide leak
The glowing embers melted all that was docile and meek
Two babies buried and a body wracked with constant pain
“Friends” who had no empathy and claimed I went insane
The forge that I existed in burned away all bullshit
The fakeness, status, small talk, popularity and wit
All that’s left is iron will and refined steel resolve
It was within that forge where I awoke and did evolve
Purified of the black cancer of human desire
Forged into a Warrior by enlightening fire
And now the fire spreads to wake the others who still sleep
Do not fear the fire, friends, do not lament and weep
No, it’s not that easy, quite the opposite in fact
Being forged is the most painful method to extract
Your full potential and power and that is why you must
Not recoil from the inferno, instead you must thrust
Yourself into the flames and just have faith you will survive
Forged into to a force of nature no one can deprive

Warrior Whip

16 Sep

The Whip makes successful return to the ring – Guelph Mercury article

“With hope it’s possible.” ~Fitz “The Whip” Vanderpool

Warrior Whip

They told him that he couldn’t do it, “Sorry you’re too old”
Little did they realize this Warrior was bold
The naysayers and doubters scoffed and said it was too late
But he silenced them all and showed no one controls your fate

Nobody can tell you what you aren’t capable of
Nobody can convince you that you can’t rise above
Unless you let them take away your focus and your hope
The Champ trudged on and proved he is still Royalty of Rope

He fought a man that’s fifteen years younger and took it all
Through flurries, jabs and uppercuts the Whip not once did fall
With heart, intensity and focus and experience
The Whip proved every single one of his doubters were dense

He proved to anyone who’s gotten used to wanting less
He proved to everyone who’d rather not deal with the stress
He proved to each and every person who thinks that you can’t
That anything is possible if your feet you just plant

Take a stand and disagree with what they have to say
Refuse to be silenced, swept under rug and go away
This Warrior’s an inspiration that if you believe
In yourself and abilities, your goals you will achieve

                                                                             Congratulations, Champ!
