Alone Together

Alone Together

I’ve some time to kill before my work shift does commence
I head to William’s coffee shop, some java they dispense
I take a seat at a table that does have room for four
I take my laptop out and figure, “Time to write of war”
I look around for inspiration and see several souls
All sitting at tables for four with coffee and soup bowls
With laptops of their own or talking or texting on phone
Or simply staring out the window, in some other zone
A cop sits all alone beside me nursing his large drink
I’d love to sit and ask him, “So officer, what do you think?”
Another man peeks worriedly over his laptop screen
His eyes meet mine for a moment and I can’t help but glean
A look of worry, fear, concern, he feels threatened by me
“Who are you to pay attention? Be gone! Let me be!”
A lady reads her laptop with great worry on her brow
I can’t ask her if she’s alright, convention won’t allow
Not one of these lonely souls would welcome someone sitting
In one of their 3 empty seats, that is not at all fitting
“Mind your own damn business,  keep your distance, stay away”
“Are you insane? I don’t know you! Please leave without delay!”
Lonely people everywhere who wonder why they feel
So alone, yet are so blind to all their spikes of steel
To their barbed wire and stone walls erected in defense
Lonely people who hate people…that make any sense?

No Limits

No Limits

A Warrior is not a fool who’s defined by all those
Who think traditionally and do believe that hair and clothes
And age and nationality, religion, height and weight
Define a person, to a Warrior each of these traits
Is nothing more than a limit and stops from further growth
Empathy and understanding? Limits hinder both
“This is what I am!” is ignorance, here’s what I hear:
“I am Christian so Islam and Buddha’s what I fear!”
“I’m American, so I can’t see your Chinese view!”
“I am white so things black people say cannot be true!”
“I am tall and have no clue what it’s like to be short!”
“I’m an introvert so why do you need to cavort?”
All these labels are not earned, they’re simply chance and luck
And that is why the tag of “Warrior” for me has stuck
I’m not a Warrior because of my mom and dad’s worth
I’m not a Warrior because of where she did give birth
I’m not a Warrior because of fashion or my style
I AM A WARRIOR because I sacrificed a while
Because I let it go, because I moved on with the mission
Because I turned my back on rituals and superstition
Because I stopped allowing limits to be placed upon
Myself, because I proved the normals wrong with grace and brawn
So if I’m asked, “What’s your background?” or “Which God do you praise?”
My response usually confuses and leaves look of glaze:
“I am human, no borders define or limit me
Nor with any name for Creator do I agree
I will not be limited by silly, simple rules
Invented by big halfwits and followed by bigger fools
My age, my looks, my country, my blood type, it doesn’t matter
What does is how when I engage adversity I shatter
Anything that challenges without whines or complaints
I EARNED my label by fighting, by breaking my constraints
And now I am not limited by what is in the past
THAT is why when normals quit, the Warrior does last

Bring A Lunch

Bring A Lunch

A Warrior does not respond with “Please stop doing that”
They do not lay down, they do not roll over and lay flat
A Warrior does not give up and does not simply quit
A Warrior holds their head high, chest out and teeth then grit
A Warrior says, “Bring a lunch!” to those who poke and tease
Because they know too well that it’s impossible to please
There’s no explaining, reasoning, no words that will suffice
And so the Warrior demands a very heavy price
“Bring a lunch” means that for those who wish to disrespect
With lack of empathy will now have their big ego checked
“Bring a lunch” means that others can spew all their mistrust
But it will cost them dearly, their own ass they’ll have to bust
“Bring a lunch” means that all those who like to hurl their hate
Better bring something along that will help satiate
Because a Warrior will take whatever may be thrown
But it is their great ENDURANCE which makes them never prone
For those who doubt and hate and wish to challenge, be forewarned
Challenging a Warrior might leave you feeling scorned
You will be stretched to your limit of patience, poise and grace
You’ll feel frustrated by that Warrior who does embrace
Discomfort, difficulty, pain and sorrow, fear and doubt
That 1-in-100 is not like others you call out
So bring a lunch if you choose to challenge a Warrior
You’ll be a while and great fatigue and hunger you’ll incur
Bring a lunch and do not be surprised how long it takes
Bring a lunch and do not whine and cry how much it aches
Bring a lunch and start to learn that talk is very cheap
But backing those words up has a price that is very steep

Indomitable

16 Nov

Indomitable

We are Warriors and we are indomitable
Because we’ve unlearned what we’ve learned, because we pulled the wool
Away from our eyes and we took responsibility
For every single thing that frustrates, upsets and hurts we
Nothing and no one can influence just how we feel
Because we always embrace each uncomfortable ordeal
We do not run, we do not hide, we engage and withstand
We let each jab and hook and uppercut that life throws land
And we have learned that each punch does not have near enough power
To keep us down for the 10 count, so now we never cower
When normals wish it would just go away, we simply smile
And in that painful, awkward hell, we walk the extra mile
Indomitable are we, unconquerable and unsubdued
Simply because we changed how our struggles were all viewed:
As opportunities to forge the blade within the fire
To not simply survive, but to radiate and inspire
We chose to be indomitable, no man or deity
Saw fit to grant us with this grand invincibility
“Indomitable” was our choice and at great sacrifice
For this unstoppable frame of mind we paid a heavy price
No fear, no anger and no jealousy, no dread or doubt
Just Warrior-sized faith in ourselves that we will be stout
That we will get up every time, that we’ll bend but not break
That though things may destroy us and leave us with pain and ache
We are still indomitable, we’ll get up every time
We’ll run, we’ll walk, we’ll crawl, we’ll scrape, we’ll scratch, we’ll limp and climb
We’ll never stop our momentum, we’ll move forward each day
Indomitable! Indomitable! So don’t get in our way 🙂

Cosmos

Cosmos

The other day I heard that there are many galaxies
Besides the one we live in, thousands each expert agrees
Thousands of systems just like the one that we live in
A universe so vast that it almost makes my head spin
And that is when I realized just how oblivious
The human ego makes people, allow me to discuss:
Not only is there a city outside the ego’s reach
Not only is there a country full of those who could teach
Not only is there an entire world of something more
Not only is there a galaxy that most do ignore
Not only are there countless star systems that do surround
Perhaps even to this physical realm we are not bound
All this vast existence all around, yet what I hear
Every single day is ego making it quite clear
That IT is the center of this vast universe of ours
It makes its problems seem so big as it whines and it cowers
It cries about something at work or what its family did
This tiny, insignificant particle that’s amid
Billions of other souls, other planets, stars and space
How could such a tiny speck act like such a disgrace?
How can someone be so unaware and think that life
Only has to do with them, THEIR struggles and THEIR strife?
How can ego make one so short-sighted as to think
That ALL OF THIS around them is completely out of sync?
How can someone feel so self-absorbed that they feel severed
From the entire cosmos just ’cause something they endeavored
Didn’t pan out how they wanted, so it’s all ignored
The ego makes it all unseen, unnoticed, unexplored
How tragic that humanity is anchored with this leech
This parasite of ego which constantly does beseech:
“You are all that matters, your feelings, your fears, your pain!”
If you ask me, this behavior to me seems just insane
To be so out of touch and unaware of what’s outside
Of one’s own head shows just how tainted we all are by pride
Each tiny ego floats among the suns and worlds and stars
Worrying about its job, its house, its clothes, its cars
Relationships, religion, politics, sports and the weather
Feeling like a supernova when it’s a small feather

Loving Sinners

Loving Sinners

Every time I speak of gays, some sheep recites this tripe:
“Love the sinner, hate the sin!” I guess I “love” this type
Of person who is so close-minded to call love a sin
Simply because both participants have hair on chin
Or simply because both have boobs, this old line now bores me
No, it’s not sin to approve homosexuality
But these same people who “love sinners” always do forget
It is a sin to be angry, to worry and to fret
It is a sin to be fearful, to have no faith or hope
It is a sin to be weak and to not show strength and cope
It is a sin to not have empathy for those unlike
Yourself, a sin that’s just as grave as those of the Third Reich
All these people who “love sinners,” well I love them too
Despite their cowardice, their apathy and hate they spew
I love each moron, imbecile, each idiot, each coward
Despite their sins of ignorance which they freely devoured
I love them even though they never questioned why they’re taught
To hate, to disapprove, condemn without the slightest thought
Without searching within their heart and soul for what’s the truth
I love each one of these “sinners” who think it is uncouth
To be so close to someone else that it feels like two hearts
Beat as one but it’s a “sin” if they share private parts
So for all those who “love gay sinners,” well I love you more
Despite your fear and ignorance and how you do ignore
Your innate trait of empathy which shows you what is true
I love you despite all your sins, although I don’t LIKE you 🙂

Selective Righteousness

6 Nov

Selective Righteousness

Many speak up when they’re asked about their views on gays
The sheep recite the Bible verses that they seem to praise
They talk about how God has said that being gay is wrong
They say it’s written, black and white and so they feel quite strong
But also there in black and white it says to love all those
Who you consider “enemy,’ to love all who oppose
It also says in black and white to not be jealous of
What your neighbor has amassed, instead, to show them love
In black and white it says forgive and walk the extra mile
It says to not allow anything to upset or rile
It says “Fear not, for I’m with you” and yet those who oppose
Homosexuality ignore much of this prose
Selective righteousness, they pick and choose what comes with ease
They passionately stand by scripture that the herd does please
But anything that comes with effort, pain or sacrifice
Swallowing of pride or ego simply won’t suffice
And so the Christians who think “gay” is wrong will honk their horns
In traffic when another driver frustrates them or scorns
They’ll see a comrade’s gain as something they wish was for them
They’ll say “So happy for you” while inside they just condemn
They’ll claim to follow “Prince of Peace” but try to shatter love
That one man has for another in name of Lord above
They’ll look on two women who love each other with pure hearts
And all they’ll see’s anatomy, the human private parts
They see not souls and spirits, just the vessels which expire
They do not realize within is energy much higher
They’re prisoners of dying flesh, to bones that bend and break
And they are terrified of those who are now wide awake
They’re threatened by the ones who see above, beyond, more deep
Because they followed their hearts and no longer act like sheep
For those that pick and choose by what is easiest to follow
This Warrior has something bitter that you must now swallow:
Your Prince of Peace, your King of Kings preached to just let it go
And He would be ashamed of you to see the grief and woe
That you spread with your ignorance, your lack of sight and feel
Your inability to recognize a love that’s real
Go ahead and pick and chose what will test you the least
Keep following just the scripture spouted by your priest
Immerse yourself in just what works for sake of ease and pleasure
Follow just the lines that come with no effort, just leisure
But one day death will come for you and it will all make sense
The fading of your mortal body makes the truth intense
And you will come to see how silly it was to judge those
Who simply had same genitals underneath all their clothes
