Full Circle

Full Circle

When they say “let it go” and
You know it’s good advice
You try your best but those three words
Just don’t seem to suffice

When you’ve done your best
When you’ve done more than your fair part
To put the past behind you and
To create a new start

But other parties cannot do
The same as you have done
Controlled by their own egos and
Your efforts simply shun

There comes a point where you need to
Come full circle and see
The thing you did that pissed them off
Was right to a degree

You may forget just why you said
Or did it in the past
And if the other party can’t
That shows how they contrast

Unwilling to let it go
To move on, start anew
Rigid, fearful, unforgiving
Selfish through and through

Let their unforgiving ways
Remind you why you said
Or did whatever now today
You remember with dread

Come full circle and step back
Into your shoes that day
See how petty they were and
Don’t let that regret weigh

Just because you wouldn’t take
The same approach right now
Doesn’t mean the things you did
In past you can’t allow

If you’re dealing with someone
Who is that sensitive
Who thinks the world does owe them and
They never will forgive

Come full circle and accept
Whatever you have done
Of all the folks that they know, you
May be the only one

Who ever stood up, spoke out and
Would not take all their crap
Who told them off and got them to
Finally shut their trap

I’ve had a few people like this
With whom I lost my cool
I raised my voice and hurled harsh words
And acted like a fool

And when I asked forgiveness down
The road, most did accept
A hug or handshake was given
And leap of faith was leapt

But for the few who said “No thanks”
“I want no part of you”
“I just don’t see how you could change
“So I won’t change my view”

I come full circle and recall
Just what had brought me there
Their selfish, stuck-up attitude
That did make my voice blare

And then I feel much better knowing
I was justified
There isn’t more you can do with
The selfish than collide

Do not let your guilt be used
By those without the gall
To let it go and move on ‘cause
Their ego isn’t small

Come full circle and be proud
Of what you did that day
Because the other selfish party
Left no other way

Thank you kindly. I think the timing of these kinds of concepts is often right on because we’re all very similar deep down, dealing with similar issues/concepts.

awesome (*_*) the circle of life rolls along, some embrace the ride while others scream out in fear in various ways… Nice poetry.
