T.G.I.M.

22 Aug

Monday

I recently got some advice
From a man I respect
This warrior of modern times
On Mondays did reflect

He talked about how everyone
Is always so downbeat
When the weekend has gone by
And is fully complete

“I hate Mondays” is what many
Grumble on that day
But this wise man points out just what
Is behind that cliche

The kind of person who wakes up
On Monday morn and cries
Is the same one who on Friday
Does happily rise

And says “TGIF” and is
Ecstatic that the week
Has finally “concluded,” for them
Fridays are the peak

This warrior’s own point of view
Is that there is no day
That has more joy or dread than any
Other cycle may

If you’re the kind of person who
Waits till the week is done
To be excited in the morning
You have not begun

To see the potential that lies
In every single hour
Of every single day because
You’re busy being sour

If you break the habit of
Waiting for week to end
If you take it day by day
And make them somehow blend

If you can wake up on Tuesday
With the same vigor
As you do on Saturday
(or maybe even bigger)

If you can be as thankful
When Monday rears its head
As you are on Friday and
Not show dismay instead

If Friday comes and goes and is
Another day to you
Another day you tried your best
Another day you grew

No different than Wednesday, Thursday
Or the week’s beginning
You’ll find no matter what the day
You will always be grinning

You’ll see what could be done each day
For those who do not work
Exclusively for the weekend
And rest of the week shirk

Yes, it’s Monday, deal with it
Embrace it, get it done
Don’t dread it and three more days
Before you cherish one

It’s perfect. 🙂 There is joy to be found everywhere. We just have to look for it.

Speak up, fellow Warrior!
