Tree holocaust

deadtrees

Tree holocaust

Murdered trees adorn the curbs
Amongst the stinking trash
For ten years they grew beautifully
Then chopped down in a flash

Decorated for two weeks
Then discarded as junk
The ignorance behind their death
Puts me in a small funk

Idiots and imbeciles
Defend their lack of thought
By just repeating what their parents
And grandparents taught:

“They grow them for this reason, to
Be chopped down for this day!”
With all due respect, to hell
With what these people say

To hell with things they tell themselves
To justify the greed
Of killing something ten years old
Just to selfishly feed

Their desire to decorate
Their living room and smell
That “fresh pine scent” that emanates
From evergreen’s dead shell

And when Christmas is over and
The needles start to fall
Time to kick it to the curb
And next year, have the gall

To kill another decade old
Tree that was “meant to die”
Just another sign of how
Mankind has gone awry

Happy Birthday, King of Kings

“What is Christmas?  It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future.  It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace.”  ~Agnes M. Pahro

Happy Birthday, King of Kings

Happy Birthday, King of Kings
Today we honor you
A day that peace, benevolence
Good will and hope renew

We give each other presents because
Many don’t know how
To show we care with words so we
Use our gifts to endow

All our love and gratitude
To ones that we hold dear
Embarrassment is not something
A warrior does fear

Christmas is one of the few
Times of the year that we
Believe that words speak louder than
Actions to high degree

So when a gift is given, warriors
Will all make sure
Intentions behind their gesture
Are in no way obscure

“I love you,” “I appreciate,”
“I cherish,” “I respect”
Warriors aren’t afraid to
Acknowledge and connect

Let your guard down and be honest
With your cherished ones
Show your brothers, sisters,
Mothers, fathers, daughters, sons

Wives and boyfriends, girlfriends, nieces
Nephews, grandparents
Uncles, aunts and all the rest
That your love is immense

It’s all about serving the King
And the path that He laid
May that path be one that’s never
Diverged from or strayed

Christmas Warriors

Christmas is upon us and
There’s cheer within the air
It’s the only time of year
Most people seem to care

Smiles are given readily
And no one walks away
Without a kind greeting of, “Have
A Merry Christmas Day!”

But ever stopped to wonder why
So many are so nice?
Why everyone is friendly instead
Of greeting with ice?

The truth is that as humans, we
Prefer to follow trends
We feel the Christmas spirit ‘cause
We’re copying our friends

And strangers that we see around
It’s easy to feel joy
When everyone around you does
Their best not to annoy

So then we have to ask ourselves
Who started this here trend?
Answer: Christmas Warriors
Who all refused to bend

The people who put their trees up
Two months ago and heard
Most people just scoff and say
“Already? How absurd!”

The people who stayed excited
Despite the rolling eyes
“Bah humbug!” and all other ways
That people would chastise

Take a moment to give thanks
To warriors who started
All the cheer we follow now
It’s them who first imparted

They didn’t let the regular
Aloof demeanor quell
The Christmas spirit in their hearts
Instead, they let it swell

So for the Christmas Warriors
Who bring that spirit back
Every single year and are
Greeted with only flack

I’d like to give my gratitude
For sticking by their passion
Even though November’s not
When Christmas is in fashion

Thank you for beginning this
Good will that we all feel
Thanks for leading all of us
With your great Christmas zeal

Peaceful Christmas

“I do like Christmas on the whole…. In its clumsy way,
it does approach Peace and Goodwill.  But it is clumsier every year.”  ~E.M. Forster

Peaceful Christmas

Merry Christmas, everyone!
I hope it’s filled with joy
But warriors are realistic
And know some annoy

Many waited until now
To get their shopping done
Recall my rhyme on consequences
It won’t be much fun

You’ve chosen to put it off ‘till
The very last minute
No complaining or frustrations
Or throwing a fit

Breath real deep as you brave all
The madness at the mall
Accept the situation that
You create when you stall

Many will have family
Come by for Christmas feast
And if you never have parties
Your stress will be increased

Recognize you’ll fall to level
Of your training now
Of course you cannot handle it
When they all come for chow

You cannot have a get-together
Only once a year
And expect all day to feel
Peaceful, joyous and cheer

Everything won’t go exactly
As you’ve planned today
Let it go and just allow
Things to flow as they may

Keep in mind the reason for
All of our celebrations
For presents and for all your guests
Let go your expectations

It isn’t about you at all
This day’s for something more
This day’s your opportunity
To show that you adore

All your friends and family
And others on the Earth
This is how the warrior
Honors the Savior’s birth

A symbol of pure selflessness
An icon of pure love
Embodiment of acceptance
From the Lord up above

Remember that when something threatens
To disrupt your peace
On your Christmas day, all those
Annoyances release

And don’t forget to keep it up
On 26th as well
Let it be a launching pad
For training to propel

And if you keep it up for an
Entire year, you’ll see
Just how peaceful your next Christmas
Will happen to be

                                         ~Merry Christmas, warriors!

Zealot

“I think while zealots fast and frown, And fight for two or seven,
That there are fifty roads to town, and rather more to Heaven”
                                                                             ~Winthrop Mackworth Praed

Zealot

Zealot is a word for those
Who think there’s just one way
They promote fear and coming doom
In every word they say

I know a zealot who claims to
Have been saved by the Christ
But instead of words with much love
His words are always iced

He warns how everything we do
Is sinful in God’s eyes
How things that bring us hope and joy
Will lead to our demise

Case in point, this zealot says
That Jesus hates Christmas
“A pagan holiday that should
Not bring joy, only stress!”

I don’t exaggerate, he used
The word “hate” to describe
A feeling that the Savior had
Towards the Christmas vibe

And therein lies the truth about
All those who do preach doom
This warrior knows very well
And needs not to presume

That Jesus Christ did not feel hate
Not even on the cross
He did not hate His murderers
While suffering blood loss

He looked towards His Father and
Asked forgiveness of them
He didn’t spew doom and gloom and
Not once did He condemn

He asked his Father, “Where are you?”
When He felt hurt and pain
He got His answer three days later
And began His reign

The zealot doesn’t think of this
When they do walk the street
And shouting loud “The end is nigh!”
To everyone they meet

Instead of scrutinizing everyone
Else in the world
At themselves their scrutiny
Should be zealously hurled

Did their Savior shout at folks?
Did He use rage and hate?
Did Jesus threaten and disrupt
Did He taunt and berate?

I see Jesus for what He was
A source of love and grace
Of patience, understanding and
Much light in this dark place

And people who would take a day
Like Christmas which brings many
Peace and love and joy and say
That it should not bring any

Are adding to the darkness that
The Savior tried to light
You don’t add any love when you
Just rile and incite

If the zealot wants to help
They should try to speak less
And do a little more to clean
The world up of its mess

‘Cause actions speak louder than words
The Savior taught us this
So what’s the best way to show love
With warnings or a kiss?

Christmas Warriors

“Out of every one hundred men, ten shouldn’t even be there,
eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters,
and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle.
Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back.”

                                                                                      ~ Heraclitus
