Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is under enormous pressure to improve the club’s fortunes ahead of a difficult festive fixture period.

United succumbed to their 10th defeat of the current campaign at the weekend against Newcastle and the British media came out all guns blazing against the manager.

There have been widespread reports of dressing room revolt over the manager’s tactics, his training methods, and even his mishandling of Jadon Sancho.

Sancho transfer

The squad are reportedly unhappy with moles within their ranks and Ten Hag has doubled down by banning journalists from the Chelsea pre-match press conference.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe must come in and end player power which is currently rampant across Carrington. That includes moving on players who are adding to the toxicity.

One talented star whose attitude has been questioned by the manager and his peers is Sancho, who is currently banished from the first team.

The Englishman had responded to the manager’s claims of not giving his all in training by accusing the manager of preferential treatment via a social media statement.

The Dutch manager was open to reintegrating him back into the squad if he apologised but despite the involvement of his national team colleagues, the winger has refused to do so.

He has been removed from the first-team WhatsApp group and barred from utilising first-team facilities at Carrington. The player will likely be moved on in January.

Juve backing away from deal

Juventus have been mentioned as being active suitors for his signature with even the prospect of a loan deal being discussed.

But now as per Tuttosport, the Old Lady are reconsidering their stance due to the costs involved in the deal. Sancho’s market value has taken a major hit but it is still quite substantial and his wages are also very high.

“Sancho is liked but the operation has costs considered excessive at the moment,” the report stated with the Turin outfit now looking at Georgiy Sudakov, the Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker.

Whether Ratcliffe can come in and broker a truce between Ten Hag and the English winger remains to be seen. But the winger must improve his attitude first if there is to be any hope of a positive resolution.

It has been a classic case of one step forward and two steps back for Manchester United this season and they succumbed to their 10th defeat of the current campaign at the weekend against Newcastle United.

Just when things were starting to look up for the Red Devils after the Everton victory, the team crumbled in Istanbul, snatching a point from the jaws of victory before meekly surrendering to the Magpies.

Manager Erik ten Hag is once again under immense pressure with British media attacking him with stories of dressing room revolt over tactics and alleged mistreatment of Jadon Sancho.

Dressing room turmoil

The club resorted to banning serial offenders like Samuel Luckhurst but the black clouds hovering over Old Trafford will not rescind till there is an upturn in form.

Stories being leaked by certain players is nothing new at United with player power allowed to run rampant by the Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe will need to come in and fix this along with his behind-the-scene personnel changes.

While the INEOS chairman might not be able to back the club with large funds during the winter transfer window, moving on certain players might help with that.

Sancho is one player whose attitude has been questioned time and again and quite a few clubs are open to moving for him in January.

Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Saudi clubs are just a few in the race and if the Englishman is successfully sold, the proceeds will then be used to buy an alternative.

Plenty of forwards have been named as targets including Premier League ace Pedro Neto but a new name has come up in the form of sign Donyell Malen.

A versatile forward capable of playing on either wing and up front, the Netherlands international has five goals and two assists from 14 starts across all competitions this season.

Malen, a January target

As Football Transfers pointed out, the 24-year-old recently signed for SEG agency, who are enjoying great relations with the club at present, having Ten Hag on their roster as well.

“Manchester United will be offered the chance to sign Donyell Malen if Jadon Sancho departs the club, FootballTransfers is told.

“The Borussia Dortmund winger recently signed for agency SEG, the firm that oversaw Erik ten Hag’s switch from Ajax to the Premier League giants.”

Ten Hag knows the Dortmund star well from his time in the Netherlands and this rumour could very well prove to be true due to the nature of acquisitions seen under the current boss.

Manchester United players almost looked like they had given up as soon as the match against Newcastle United started, such was their lack of intensity.

It led to a dismal 0-1 defeat at St James’ Park, the 10th loss in all competitions this campaign, heaping further pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.

While injuries and poor form have played a major role in such a poor second season, the manager is also not devoid of blame.

The Peoples Person covered a report earlier about a section of the squad being unhappy with the Dutchman’s training methods and tactics.

United players unhappy with ETH

The majority of British media have covered variations of the same news, with The Daily Mirror adding that the players are not too happy with the manager’s insistence on keeping Jadon Sancho out of the squad.

United’s forwards are struggling this season with Antony yet to score or assist, while last season’s top scorer Marcus Rashford has looked like a shadow of his former self.

Anthony Martial continues to disappoint while new signing Rasmus Hojlund has been on fire in the Champions League but is yet to score in the Premier League.

United could have done with someone like Sancho but he remains banished from the first team after a social media spat with the manager where he accused the boss of preferential treatment.

Ten Hag had insisted that the winger would be reintegrated into the first team should he apologise but the Englishman has not yet felt the need to do it.

He has since been removed from the team’s WhatsApp group and is training with the academy and banned from using first-team facilities.

United are said to be looking at ways to sell the former Manchester City academy graduate in January with multiple clubs eyeing a cut-price deal.

As per the report, the former Borussia Dortmund star has been training non-stop and players would prefer if the manager quashes the tiff as it is proving detrimental to the team.

“Sancho continues to train alone, as he has done for the past three months, since disputing Ten Hag’s reasons for omitting him from the squad that lost 3-1 at Arsenal on September 3.

Section of players calling for Sancho to be reintegrated

“Despite being banished to train in the Academy facility, Sancho is said to have maintained his fitness and is “training like a beast” according to one source, with several of his team-mates wanting to see him reintegrated back into Ten Hag’s squad.

“With Rashford, Martial, and Antony all struggling for form, some of United’s players are said to feel Ten Hag’s stubborn stance is misplaced and proving to the detriment of the team.”

There have even been reports that Sir Jim Ratcliffe will discuss with the manager ways in which to solve this issue without moving on such an asset.

It will be interesting to see if these reports come out to be true and if Sancho does indeed come back into the fold.

Ten Hag is not one to mince his words and he will know such media bashing will continue unless he manages to turn around the club’s fortunes in the days to come.

Manchester United players have been accused of a lack of professionalism by many legends of the game.

The narrative was once again in the focus after their limp loss to Newcastle, with players like Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial under the scanner.

However, they had all been theories as conjecture as experts and pundits wanted to understand why an expensively assembled squad had been underachieving for the last decade.

Now, a former player, who has seen it all happen, has spilled the beans in a remarkable interview.

In an interview with YU Planet, Nemanja Matic lifted the lid on the fallen standards at the club and how they surprised him.

The Serb said that coming from Chelsea, it was a huge difference in terms of professionalism.

Nobody was late for training at the London club but when he came to United, many players were.

He named two players in particular, whose names will surprise no United fan- Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho.

The latter is still at loggerheads with Erik ten Hag after calling out the manager in public due to being accused of precisely that- lack of professionalism.

Matic said that due to the sinking standards at the club, United had to create a five-man internal disciplinary committee to rein in the repeat offenders.

The state of the club can be summed up by his revelation that in a season, that committee collected a humongous £75,000 in fines just by players arriving late to training.

This really puts into new light the condition of the club and explains a lot about below-par performances by highly paid professionals.

Ralf Rangnick once said that this club requires open-heart surgery and while the manager might not be at his best currently, Matic’s comments confirm that he is the least of all problems at the club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25% stake in Manchester United is set to be announced before the end of 2023.

The 71-year-old hopes to have control of the sporting structure at the club before Christmas, with the view of transforming United’s outdated way of operating.

Major changes are expected among the staff that currently make the decisions at Old Trafford with Richard Arnold and John Murtough already set to leave the club.

As reported by The Mirror, Ratcliffe’s arrival could also hand an unlikely olive branch to exiled star Jadon Sancho.

The forward hasn’t featured since the opening weeks of the season after his public spat with manager Erik ten Hag.

Sir Dave Brailsford, the chief lieutenant to Ratcliffe, is hoping to start work in the coming weeks and believes his psychology-based approach could help Sancho revive his career at United.

It looked almost certain that the 23-year-old was heading for the exit door with Juventus eyeing a cut-price deal for the player.

However, as part of Brailsford’s changes, therapist Steve Peters at Team Sky is expected to make up part of the backroom staff and would be hoping to work with Sancho.

Having parted with £72 million to bring the forward to Old Trafford in 2021, Ratcliffe’s preference is to rebuild bridges rather than part with a valuable asset.

It’s unclear whether Ten Hag will be open to the idea having been publicly let down by a player he has given a lot of leeway to.

On the pitch, United will be hoping to continue their strong domestic form as they travel to Newcastle United tonight in what looks like a crunch clash in the race for the top four.

Five wins in their last six league games has left United just four points off the Champions League places, with Newcastle just behind Ten Hag’s troops.

A win tonight in a hostile atmosphere would be huge result for United as they continue their tricky set of festive fixtures.

A report within Italian media has suggested Juventus could make a double swoop at Old Trafford for Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek.

For differing reasons, the pair, signed during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure as manager at Manchester United, have fallen out of favour under current boss Erik ten Hag.

A report by The Peoples Person a few weeks ago had revealed the club were seeking to offload both players in January, in the hope of creating some more financial flexibility to bring in replacements. Juventus was suggested as a possible option for both.

This assessment was today corroborated by Corriere Dello Sport, an Italian outlet, who suggested Juventus were hoping to “conclude a double transfer deal” with their United counterparts for the unwanted duo.

The Italian giants have been experiencing something of a crisis in midfield following the enforced unavailability of Paul Pogba and Nicolò Fagioli. As such, Van de Beek could offer a short-term fix to this problem in the centre of the pitch.

Corriere Dello Sport suggests, therefore, a six-month loan with an option to purchase next summer may be a deal which suits both parties.

In regards to Sancho, however, the report indicates United are requesting a fee of at least €30 million to secure his services on a permanent basis. This appears to be one of the first times a minimum figure for Sancho’s sale has been revealed.

If a deal was struck at this price, it would constitute a loss of over £50 million from the deal agreed to bring Sancho to Manchester from Dortmund two and half years ago.

Corriere Dello Sport indicate Juventus have had “their sights [on Sancho] for some time” whose natural talent has never been in question. Rather, it is Sancho’s mentality and application which have derailed his career at Old Trafford.

Reports of unprofessionalism and a lack of dedication in training have been long-standing critiques of the winger, with Ten Hag appearing to reached breaking point with him earlier in the season. Sancho has not played for, nor trained with, the first-team since the pair’s public dispute in September.

With reports suggesting United are hoping for a busy January transfer window – with as many as four possible positions being targeted – the club will be reliant on outgoing players to generate some much-needed income.

Being able to shift two players – who have been virtually forgotten by the United fanbase such is their lack of meaningful first-team minutes – could prove crucial to these plans.

Manchester United’s turbulent start to the season has left manager Erik ten Hag under pressure heading into the packed winter schedule.

Despite domestic form picking up in recent weeks, Ten Hag is yet to find any kind of serenity on or off the pitch in this campaign.

Jadon Sancho has provided the Dutch coach with one of his biggest headaches in his second term, having been banished from the first team since the start of September.

Ten Hag revealed he left Sancho out of the trip to Arsenal due to a below par week of training prior to the fixture – something the forward was quick to deny.

Sancho has since refused to apologise for his public outburst and now looks set to leave the club in January.

The Peoples Person reported interest from Juventus yesterday and further stories on the potential move are circling in the Italian media today.

calciomercato.com believe the switch, despite being a difficult one, is looking more and more likely as we creep toward the opening of the winter window.

The relationship between manager and player at United is apparently beyond repair and the club are resigned to Sancho leaving the club in the coming months.

With Sancho’s preference to stay in Europe rather than become the latest player to join the galaxy of stars moving to Saudi, United are in need of a resolution.

Juventus are the front runners for his signature but may need United to contribute financially to the deal which may come in the form of a loan-to-buy.

Due to Sancho’s monster wages at Old Trafford, Juve are not in a position to cover his entire salary and would need United to cover a portion before they look at a permanent deal.

calciomercato.com add that a return to Borussia Dortmund is Sancho’s personal preference but with the German’s distancing themselves from the deal, Juve represent his next best option.

The 23-year-old’s departure from United would result in another black mark against the club’s recruitment policy in recent years, having signed the forward for £72 million just two years ago.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag’s second season in charge of the club has been far from perfect with injuries and controversies threatening to derail the campaign.

While results in the Premier League have picked up in the past month, there is a lot of turmoil surrounding the futures of several high-profile first-team stars.

Raphael Varane, who was first choice when fit last season, has seen his minutes as a starter reduce due to a combination of his poor injury record and the form of Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans.

Multiple January exits on the cards

The World Cup winner is said to be unhappy with his descent down the pecking order and there is interest from Bayern Munich and even Chelsea for his services.

Then there is the Jadon Sancho situation, with the winger banished from the first team after a public falling out with the manager after he called out the boss on social media and refused to apologise.

An exit is highly likely in January with Saudi Arabian clubs interested but the player would prefer to stay in Europe.

Donny van de Beek has endured a nightmare spell at Old Trafford and despite his former Ajax coach’s arrival, his fortunes have not changed one bit.

The 26-year-old, who was excluded from United’s Champions League squad, has made two appearances across all competitions totaling 21 minutes of action.

Turkish clubs were lining up for his signature but now it seems all three players are being eyed by Serie A giants Juventus.

The Old Lady’s interest in the United winger was known but Tuttomercatoweb have now added the midfielder and defender to their list of targets.

The Turin-based outfit are said to be ready to do a deal for all three in January itself but if they do not acquire their targets in winter, they are prepared to return next summer.

Juventus eyeing triple raid

“Juventus are keeping an eye on the “redundancy” situation at Manchester United. In fact, the Bianconeri would be interested in three players leaving the “Red Devils”, in January or, at the latest, in summer.

“They would be the French central defender Varane, the Dutch midfielder Van De Beek, and Jadon Sancho, a winger for the English national team who has already been in Juve’s sights for a few weeks.”

Whether Juventus have the funds to complete all three deals in January remains a doubt. Apart from possibly Sancho, United will certainly not entertain any loan moves for the other two.

They want permanent exits sho that they can use the money generated to strengthen the squad. While Van de Beek and Sancho’s exits appear to be only a matter of time, the French World Cup winner could yet stay till the end of the season.

Incoming Manchester United minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe is expected to provide manager Erik ten Hag with a major financial boost which could allow for a January transfer window spending spree.

According to Football Insider, any funds raised from the sale of first-team players in January will be handed directly to Ten Hag so that he may bolster his squad with some fresh mid-season signings.

Ratcliffe is expected to take control of Man United’s football operations by November 26th, meaning that he will be in a position to form a close relationship with the first-team manager.

Among the players that United have been heavily expected to offload this January is Jadon Sancho, who was been exiled from the first team since his fallout with Ten Hag.

Saudi Arabia has shown an interest in luring Sancho to the Pro League, The Peoples Person reported, while Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid have also been named as potential suitors.

Juventus are reportedly still engaged in talks with United over a loan deal in January, however, United are believed to be prioritising a permanent move.

Sancho’s departure from the club could yet be blocked, however, after it was reported that Ratcliffe is set to hold talks with Ten Hag over potentially resolving their spat.

United are believed to be open to the idea of parting ways with winger Antony, who has struggled to make a positive impact on the field this season.

Still, with Ten Hag reportedly retaining his faith in Antony and unwilling to offload the player, he too may remain at the club past January.

Yesterday, it was reported that Bayern Munich have been considering signing United centre-back Raphael Varane in January.

According to The Athletic, the French World Cup winner has accepted his manager’s decision to bench him in recent times, meaning that he might be willing to ride things out at United as he seeks a way back into the starting 11.

With several underperforming key assets and numerous key players unavailable through injury, Ten Hag’s job as United manager has become increasingly difficult, meaning that he may have little other choice than to turn to the transfer market in January to provide his squad with a much-needed boost.

Sancho looks like the most likely exit at this point and a sale could therefore be the key to Erik ten Hag’s ability to strengthen his squad in January.

Manchester United may be the most in-form team in the Premier League at the moment but a lot needs to go right for manager Erik ten Hag after the international break if he is to salvage the current campaign.

Not only has the Dutchman been forced to deal with a humongous pile of injuries but he has also had to contend with underwhelming displays from his top stars and off-field controversies.

One of the biggest talking points this season has been the former Ajax coach’s treatment of Jadon Sancho, who remains banished from the first team after failing to apologise to the manager.

ETH-Sancho spat still rumbling on

Ten Hag had called out the former Manchester City academy graduate’s training displays with the winger not taking it in the right spirit, instead choosing to retaliate by calling out his manager on social media.

The England international was not too pleased with Ten Hag’s preferential treatment of Antony and he has refused to bow down despite the intervention from the PFA and his England colleagues.

New minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe is also expected to have a word with the boss but it seems to be too late and the club is resigned to losing the former Borussia Dortmund star in January.

A lot of clubs including Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are among those who are reportedly interested but in all likelihood, due to the finances involved, a loan deal is the most likely outcome in January.

Links with Juventus seem to be gaining traction recently. But Calciomercato have now claimed that while The Old Lady would love to acquire such a highly-rated star in such an opportunistic circumstance, the truth is that tactically and economically, a loan deal would be difficult to complete.

Sancho’s agents have got in touch with the Turin outfit but even sporting-wise, the 23-year-old does not fit Massimiliano Allegri’s vision.

“Jadon Sancho is not a priority for Juventus, between his salary and tactical position in Massimiliano Allegri’s XI. In a possible 3-5-2, he would be placed behind the first striker. A role that he can do, but which does not enhance the acrobatic Sancho.

Sancho not the right fit for Juventus

“As regards the salary of the 23-year-old Englishman, Manchester United demands an onerous loan with almost total participation in the monthly payments.

“To date, Jadon receives a salary which at the pound-euro exchange rate corresponds to 20 million per year. Probably not the case for the ‘Old Lady’.”

Due to the lack of playing time and the negativity surrounding the winger, United are aware that they might not recoup the fee they paid Dortmund three seasons ago.

However, that does not mean United should take a big hit and they should definitely try and squeeze out as much as possible from any future sale.
